Hoan Keim Lake in downtown Hanoi (a few miles from where I am staying) – Thap Rua (Tortoise Tower) – it is really pretty when lit up at night. Hopefully a good picture to follow.
· There is a tale from the 15th century when Le Loi led the Vietnamese in a ten year fight against the Chinese. The golden tortoise in the lake lent Le Loi a legendary sword to beat the Chinese. Le Loi returned the sword to the tortoise after he became king.
